Washing powder is an essential daily cleaning product for every family. So what are the factors that affect the detergency of washing powder?
The factors affecting the detergency of washing powder mainly include the following aspects:
I. Composition of washing powder
1. Surfactant: It is the main decontamination component of washing powder. Its type and content will directly affect the detergency. Different types of surfactants have different removal effects on different stains. For example, anionic surfactants have better removal effects on oil stains, and nonionic surfactants have better effects on hydrophilic stains.
2. Enzyme preparations: Such as protease, lipase, amylase, etc., can decompose specific stain components such as protein, oil, starch, etc., and enhance the decontamination ability.
3. Additives: Such as sodium tripolyphosphate, etc., can play a role in softening hard water and enhancing the activity of surfactants, thereby improving the decontamination effect.
II. Washing conditions
1. Water temperature: Generally speaking, the higher the water temperature, the faster the dissolution speed of washing powder, and the stronger the activity of surfactants. The detergency will be correspondingly improved. However, for some clothes of special materials, too high water temperature may cause problems such as shrinkage and deformation.
2. Washing time: Appropriately prolonging the washing time can allow the washing powder to fully play its role and improve the detergency. But too long washing time may cause damage to clothes.
3. Mechanical force: Mechanical actions such as stirring and rubbing can help washing powder better contact with stains and enhance the decontamination effect. But excessive mechanical force may damage clothes.
III. Nature of stains
1. Stain type: Different stain components and properties have different requirements for the detergency of washing powder. For example, oil stains require stronger surfactants and emulsification effects to be removed, while blood stains require washing powder containing specific enzyme preparations.
2. Age of stains: Fresh stains are relatively easy to remove, while old stains may have penetrated into the clothing fibers and require stronger detergency and appropriate pretreatment.
IV. Water quality
1. Hard water will reduce the detergency of surfactants in washing powder because calcium and magnesium ions in hard water will combine with surfactants to form insoluble precipitates. Using softened water or adding a water softener can improve the detergency.
2. Impurities and pollutants in the water may also affect the decontamination effect of washing powder.
